When our electric furnace stopped heating mid-winter, I had to figure out if it was the heating elements or the thermostat. After checking the circuit breaker and fuses, I tested the elements with a multimeter and found one had burned out. Replacing it wasn't too hard once I found the right part, but I also cleaned the blower and checked the wiring connections to prevent future issues.
